Summary: Jack is more worn out by the job than he'll admit.
Jack slid his empty coffee mug onto the table and propped a leg up on it as he picked his report back up, trying to concentrate on it. It didn't make for exciting reading, the lines all blurring into dreary nonsense. He yawned just as Ianto came past to collect his mug.
'You'll catch more than flies if you yawn like that,' Ianto observed. 'Why don't you take a nap if you're tired?'
Jack snorted in derision. 'Naps are for little kids and old people.'
'Both descriptions of which would fit you on any given day,' Ianto teased. He plonked himself down next to Jack and settled a hand on his knee. 'Nobody knows how hard you work better than me, but saying that doesn't mean you have to be all things to all people. You don't have to work every hour of the day and night. You might be immortal but you're not totally invincible.'
'I don't need that much sleep,' Jack said, trying to bat Ianto's hand away from his face as he attempted to stroke Jack's cheek. Jack hated it when Ianto fussed, though that didn't stop him.
'If you didn't need much sleep, you wouldn't be sitting there yawning and looking halfway to dropping off right where you sit.'
'Well, maybe it's because you're the one that's been keeping me awake all night,' he said, nudging Ianto with his hip.
Ianto rolled his eyes. 'We're hardly going at it all hours of the night. I'd be needing more than a nap during the day if we were. Just admit you're feeling a little run down. It's not the end of the world.'
Jack gave him a skeptical look. 'I can't just curl up and have a sleep right here where everyone can see me.'
Ianto smirked. 'Don't want to ruin that reputation of yours. The invincible Captain Jack Harkness who couldn't possibly take a nap on the sofa in full view of everybody. The shame of it!'
'Hey, I worked hard to build that reputation.' He yawned again, unable to suppress this one any more than the last one. 'Maybe I am a little bit tired from all the long nights, though.'
'That paperwork will all still be there in the morning,' Ianto assured him. 'Why don't you pop downstairs and steal a bed from one of the VIP suites. I can run interference up here for a few hours. Tell people you've gone out for a bit.'
'You'd do that?'
'Of course I'd do that, you daft sod.' He ruffled Jack's hair and this time he didn't find the energy to fight Ianto off. Instead he just leaned into Ianto's shoulder and stayed there a while, until finally he leaned a little too heavily and Ianto heard a brief snoring sound.
'Or you could just kip here for an hour or two,' Ianto muttered under his breath, trying and failing to remove himself from underneath Jack's head. 'Not like I had anything better to do.'
