Summary: Not everyone appreciates the wonder of the natural world. A double drabble.
Ianto’s eyes casually drifted upwards as the tiny silvery filament caught the light just beyond his face. He followed its trail upwards until he spotted the tiny little insect dangling from it, busily creating a new thread that would form a juncture to the first one. It was incredibly clever, the way it could create such a perfectly symmetrical web out of nothing, without the aid of a single measuring device.
'You probably shouldn't do that in here,' he told it as it continued its industrious work to create a web that would hang over Jack's desk. 'Jack is the bravest person I know, capable of facing down even the scariest alien, but he'll scream like a banshee if he sees you come dangling down to land in the middle of his reports.' He might get lucky and squish it by accident with whatever was in his hand, but more likely he'd just yell for Ianto to get rid of it.
Ianto blew gently, causing the silk to billow away from him, taking its passenger with it until it brushed the wall and the creature dismounted and scurried away.
Ianto smiled. 'Good deed done for the day,' he told himself.
