Summary: Jack has mastered the art of delegation. A triple drabble.
Andy cringed at the mess that had been left behind by their alien visitor in some poor sods kitchen. Aliens could be so rude sometimes! Of course, that was nothing compared to the mess it had made when several of their semi automatic weapons had exploded it into pieces after it lunged at them with its four inch long fangs. Rude and unfriendly.
‘S’pose we have to clean all this up now?’ he asked, looking to Jack for confirmation that being outside the government and beyond the police didn't spare them having to pick up after themselves.
‘Afraid so,’ Jack said, clapping him on the shoulder. ‘On the plus side,’ he added, tugging open a kitchen cupboard hiding a multitude of cleaning products, ‘the home owner came well prepared for such an event. You get started without me. I'm just going to nip out front to deal with the blues and twos. Let them know we won't be needing them.’
‘Don't you think maybe I should handle that?’ Andy asked. ‘You know, being ex police and all. Let them hear it from one of their own?’
Jack's hand on his shoulder was firm. ‘Andy, I think that's exactly why you shouldn't. No need for all that awkwardness now that you've been promoted past them. Just ask Gwen how tricky a relationship that was to navigate. Best if I handle them.’
‘Oh. Okay. I'll just… start cleaning.’
Ianto was, of course, already out front, doing precisely that when Jack trotted down the front steps. ‘All under control, sir,’ he reported.
‘Didn't doubt it for a second. It's a real mess in there, though.’
‘You didn't leave Andy to deal with it all himself, did you?’
Jack shrugged. ‘I said I needed to nip out. I never said how long I'd be.’
