Summary: Torchwood hours are longer than anything Andy has experienced before. A double drabble.
Andy collapsed in an exhausted heap on his desk, letting his head rest there. If he stayed there a few minutes, he might just fall asleep. This job was way harder than he'd expected, and worse than the longest shift he'd ever pulled, even standing out in that pouring rain on a freezing Saturday night, watching drunken Valley girls squeal as they argued over the same taxi.
'Not yet, ex-Sergeant Davidson,' Jack said, kicking the base of his chair and startling him back to reality.
'I can't go on,' Andy groaned. 'We've been going for like thirty six hours straight.'
'This place doesn't stop,' Jack told him. 'You get to rest when the job is done'.
Andy was about to accept the logic when a second thought crossed his mind. 'Hang on but, didn't I see Gwen asleep on the sofa just before? Not to mention Ianto hiding under the boardroom table. I'm pretty sure he wasn't sweeping it for crumbs.'
Jack shrugged unapologetically. 'They've been going at least forty eight hours. Talk to me again when you get to that stage and we can negotiate whether you've earned a break.' He slapped Andy on the back. 'Welcome to Torchwood.'
